01 - January - Gettin' Things Started!
02 - February - <3
03 - March - Our "YES" Wedding
We flew into Bangkok, but only spent an afternoon there. We took an overnight train up to Chiang Mai, where we stayed for a few days. The food was the ABSOLUTE best here - this is also where we swam with elephants & took a Thai cooking class! We also did a “Walking Street,” which is similar to a farmer’s market, but much bigger & with thousands of people.
From Chiang Mai, we flew to Phuket, where we stayed for another few days. The food here was very mediocre, but the beach & our hotel was amazing. I got a TERRIBLE sunburn here, and was swollen for the next few days of the trip (whoops!). We did an excursion from Phuket where we went out on a boat to see the Phi Phi Islands. They were even more beautiful than the pictures, but crowded with SWARMS of people, which made it difficult to enjoy.
The last half of our trip wasn’t planned, so we made a decision to fly over to Koh Phangan. They are known for the Full Moon Party - totally not our speed, but we figured we should probably do it anyway since we were going to be in Thailand during a Full Moon. It was insane. We stayed in this tiny backpacker villa on the beach, met people from Germany, Canada, & Russia, rode on a ferry with people carrying live chickens, and attended the Full Moon Party. It had been raining all day, so it was super cloudy, but the party happens on the beach, with the waves crashing down on the shore. Neon everywhere - flaming jump ropes - buckets of booze - and thousands of people.
For the last part of our trip, we took a ferry over to Koh Samui, where we relaxed on the beach, went for morning walks, searched for sea shells, and did some shopping. We also ate a giant seafood dinner on the beach while watching the sunset.
